Animal Licensing

*Animal licensing is now past due, a $5.00 per animal/per month late fee is now being imposed*

All cats and dogs in the Borough of Hamburg over the age of six (6) months must be licensed.  The purpose is to ensure that all animals have received their rabies vaccination.  Yearly licenses are due in January and proof of current rabies certificate through November 1st of the licensing year is required.

Be sure to include the following:

• Proof of current rabies vaccination (a license cannot be issued if the rabies vaccination expires before November 1, 2012

• A check payable to the Borough of Hamburg.  The fee are as follows: $8.20 for spayed or neutered and $11.20 non-spayed/non-neutered

• New registrations for cats or dogs that are over 6 months need to fill out  form

• A self addressed stamped envelope must be provided so the license can be returned by mail.

 

 

Leash Law

Ordinance 70-12B: Dog to be accompanied by person over 12 years old; leash.  No person owning, keeping or harboring any dog shall suffer or permit it to be upon the public or private streets or in any public place of the Borough of Hamburg unless such dog is accompanied by a person over the age of 12 years and is securely confined and controlled by an adequate leash no more than 6 feet long.

 

General Information

Ordinance 70-13: protects the health and welfare of the Borough residents by requiring the prompt and proper disposal of animal feces in a sanitary manner.  Any violations of the Ordinance will result in a offense fine of $50.00.
